SAN ANTONIO -- After years of complaints surrounding the homes in the Mirasol development, the San Antonio Housing Authority announced Wednesday its first successful buyback.
Many are calling the move a major step toward closure for the homeowners.
Roxanne Perez is the first of 16 people going through that buyback process to actually complete it.
Perez said she made nearly $24,000 on the sale.
Many Mirasol home residents said they still are not going through the buyback process.
They have instead opted to have the city repair their homes.
After the process came to a halt a week ago when the operations director in charge of those repairs resigned, SAHA chairman Phil Nelson said they hope to appoint a new operations director very soon.
"Hopefully, if we have an operations manager within the next week, that would be fantastic. I certainly think the people have waited long enough for these repairs," Nelson said.
Possible replacement will be discussed at Wednesday night's Mirasol Task Force Meeting. It will be held at the SAHA headquarters, located at 818 S. Flores St. at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
