Drugs Suspected In MySpace Video Involving Toddler

POSTED: Monday, October 22, 2007
UPDATED: 10:57 pm CDT October 22, 2007

Seguin police launched an investigation Monday after viewing several videos posted on MySpace that allegedly show a toddler riding unrestrained in a car with several local teens possibly using drugs.

With hip-hop music playing in the background, one of the videos shows a group of friends cruising the streets of Seguin while smoking a cigar-like object in the presence of a toddler.

"They're passing what appears to be a cigar-type object around. That's the common usage for someone using what they call a blunt, a marijuana blunt," Lt. Mike Watts said. "So, we're looking into that possibility."

A concerned viewer sent the video clip, posted on MySpace in September, to KSAT 12 News.

KSAT 12 News alerted Seguin police, who launched an investigation soon after viewing the MySpace video.

In a second video, the same child is seen again dancing to hip hop and using profanity when prompted by a woman not seen on camera.

"Obviously, it's a concern because of the nature of what's being said on there, and you have a concern for the child," Watts said.

Investigators said although it cannot be proven that any crimes were committed, they want to talk to the people seen in the video clip.

Investigators believe the teens seen in the clip are between the ages of 15 and 19.

Authorities are currently working with the local school district and Child Protective Services in an effort to identify the teens.

Anyone who recognizes the teens is urged to contact the Seguin Police Department at 830-401-2366.
