SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Housing Authority has had plenty of scandal in recent years and they still can't seem to get it together.
Just when SAHA finished smoothing over their last mess, we learn they spent almost $1.2 million without a budget, scope of work or timetable. And they also did it without a contract or board approval.
For a public agency responsible for spending taxpayer money, that's a big problem.
SAHA administers 12,000 Section 8 vouchers, a $130 million annual budget and $300 million in assets.
It's time they get some critical and public oversight into how they manage it.
With SAHA board members claiming it's not unusual to be kept in the dark about details, that oversight needs to happen soon.
