SAN ANTONIO -- A local boy scout has sold more than $26,000 worth of popcorn – and he’s not done.
Kenny Sandridge, 11, has the second-highest sales among Boy Scouts nationwide, but he wants to be No. 1.
Sandridge, a home school student, has about two weeks to sell an additional $14,000 worth of popcorn to take the lead from a child in California.
The added benefit for Sandridge is that he receives 12 percent of what he sells as a college scholarship.
He said his fellow scouts have been very supportive.
“They’re coming up, patting me on the shoulder… and saying you can do it, Kenny,” Sandridge said.
Sandridge is currently selling popcorn at the Tractor Supply store from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the intersection of highways 281 and 46 in north Bexar County.
