SAPD Motorcycle Officer Injured

POSTED: Wednesday, January 23, 2008
UPDATED: 1:38 pm CST January 23, 2008

A San Antonio police officer suffered minor injuries while riding his motorcycle Wednesday on the near West Side.

The officer, a 20-year veteran of the force, was riding on the lower level of Interstate 10 West when he hit some debris near the Frio exit, police said.

The officer managed to ride another 300 feet before losing control and hitting a sidewall, police said.

Police spokesman Gabe Trevino said the officer was lucky because there was an 18-wheeler traveling behind the motorcycle that was able to stop in time.

The officer has been on motorcycle duty for 10 years.
