SAN ANTONIO -- A pair of stores on the city’s south side were popular destinations Thursday evening because of a run on the latest music releases, but it’s not what one would think.
San Antonio police raided two stores and seized more than 6,000 bootleg CDs and DVDs.
About 1,500 discs were seized from the Southside Connection on SW Military Drive and another 6,000 were seized from Urban City inside South Park Mall, according to police.
Undercover officers purchased the pirated intellectual property Thursday on information given to them by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Police said they seized more than $80,000 of bootleg merchandise, which they based on the prices the media were being sold for.
One business owner and two employees were arrested in the raids and police are searching for the owner of the other business.
Neither of the two stores were shut down by police, who said it will be up to the owners if they wish to close.
