SAN ANTONIO -- Three armed masked men forced their way into a home where a high-stakes poker game was taking place on the West Side of San Antonio early Tuesday and shot one of the players during a robbery.
The trio fired some shots outside a home in the 9000 block of Laguna Rio before bursting into a back door and interrupting the poker game that involved about a dozen people, police said.
The gunmen forced the players against a wall, and at one point Charles Lineberry, 49, was shot twice in the upper chest, police said. Lineberry was transported to University Hospital in critical condition.
The gunmen took about $3,000 from a cash box and the players' wallets, police said. They remain on the loose.
The buy-in to the game was $300, police said.
