Jurors on Friday listened to a stunning video confession of a woman accused in the death of a 3-year-old child.
Veronica Herrera told police she was upset while bathing her boyfriend's son, Andrew Fox, and eventually drowned the child when he wouldn't stop asking for his father.
"I wanted to play with him and he was all, 'Ah, ah, I want daddy, I want daddy,'" she said on the videotape. "I go, 'Shut up, already, you're driving me nuts with your crying and your whining for your daddy; you're driving me nuts.'"
Herrera told police she held Fox's head under a faucet spewing scalding hot water, drowning him. She said she tried to give him CPR, but was unsuccessful. She then took the child to the apartment's swimming pool and claimed he had drowned there, police said.
Herrera's attorney claimed the confession was the result of police intimidation and that she is mentally deficient. He is expected to call witnesses to address those issues when the trial is scheduled to resume Monday.
