SAN ANTONIO -- An assortment of law enforcement agencies contributed to an operation that resulted in Thursday's arrest of 10 people in connection with a major drug trafficking organization.
The operation was dubbed "Junkyard Dog" by authorities because of the junkyard owned by David Valdez, one of the eight males indicted in federal court on charges of trafficking cocaine, investigators said.
Federal and local officials, including people from the Drug Enforcement Administration, the San Antonio Police Department, Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, the Leon Valley Police Department and others, made multiple arrests and seizures at various locations throughout the city on Wednesday.
The largest seizure occurred at a home on the 800 block of Kayton Street on the city's southeast side. Agents seized 10 kilograms of cocaine, weapons, vehicles and about $250,000 in cash, investigators said.
Investigators said they expect more arrests in the case, including some as early as Thursday evening.
