SAN ANTONIO -- Talkative drivers may have to refrain from making calls in school zones if a City Council vote turns out as expected.
City staff are currently preparing data in advance of a meeting of the council's Public Safety Committee, which is going over the proposal.
While the proposed ordinance would carry possible fines, District 7 City Councilman Justin Rodriguez said the city wouldn't be on a manhunt for mobile phone users.
"You know, we're not going to set up checkpoints for folks to be stopped just because they're on cell phones," Rodriguez said.
A vote could go before the City Council by late April, Rodriguez said.
