Fight Club Halted At La Vernia High

Over the past few weeks, administrators at this South Texas town's high school have heard complaints about students participating in organized fighting groups and uploading the videos to the internet.

"All of them are terrible, all of them are inapproriate," said Tom Harvey, La Vernia Independent School District superintendent said. "They're not funny, they're not entertaining. We take them all very seriously."

While the clips recorded at La Vernia High School have been pulled from YouTube, multiple similar videos could be found on the Web site through a simple search.

Harvey said he knows the students involved and they're facing discipline not only from the school, but from law enforcement as well.

"We are citing the individuals for disorderly conduct and most of the cases will probably be turned over to juvenile," La Vernia Police Chief Bob Hyatt said.

Disorderly conduct is a Class C misdemeanor.

Harvey did not say what punishment the students involved would face.
