SAN ANTONIO -- One week after it was closed for code violations, the Bikini Car Wash reopened for business Friday.
The car wash, which is located at the intersection of South Flores and Southcross, had been open for only four days before city officials found problems with the drainage and ordered it closed.
But the owner, Ricardo Arsate, said that he made all the necessary improvements and the city reissued his certificate of occupancy.
"I'm good to go," Arsate said.
He added that despite concerns from residents and a nearby church, his business is not breaking any laws.
"There was really no way, legally, they could shut me down," Arsate said. "The business is totally legal. They have no laws that apply to this."
Arsate said that his employees are women over 18 years old who don't engage in illegal activity.
Despite that, residents like Jim Kauska don't want the car wash in the neighborhood.
"I don't think the place belongs here," Kauska said. "I just think it's very shallow. The girls look like teenagers."
Arsate said that he is thinking of opening another location in another part of the city.
