SAN ANTONIO -- It's official now.

With a ceremony at the Bexar County Commissioner's Court meeting Friday, the tiny, formerly unincorporated village to the southwest of San Antonio is officially its own city.

The move comes after residents approved a measure to incorporate in a special election earlier this month.

One resident feels being an official city will allow Von Ormy to be a more pleasant place to live.

"There's no services at all," resident Sally Martinez said. "We have no sewer, there's bad animal control ... there are many things that are bad in Von Ormy, but we can fix all these things by being a city."
