SAN ANTONIO -- Monday afternoon's 90-plus degree heat played a part in prompting three alarms to an apartment fire on the city's north side.
Firefighters were called shortly after 1 p.m. to The Winston apartments at
11246 Sir Winston Drive for the fire, which was contained Monday afternoon by more than 30 firefighting units.
The fire was elevated to three alarms, partly because of Monday afternoon's heat, said San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood.
In all, eight units were damaged by the flames. The families displaced by the fire were receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
