SAN ANTONIO -- Several residents were evacuated from their downtown apartment complex early Friday after an electrical fire sparked from an air conditioning unit.
Firefighters were called about 4 a.m. to the Maverick Apartments on the
600 block of North Presa Street and saw smoke coming out of the building, said San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood.
The fire began in an air conditioning unit on the third floor, and firefighters were able to put it out quickly, Hood said. There was no structural damage to the building and damage is estimated at about $10,000, he said.
