BALCONES HEIGHTS, Texas -- It all happened in a matter of seconds.
A person wearing an orange shirt steps out of a red car, walks up to a green Mercedes and runs away a few seconds later. In that short period of time, police said, 27-year-old Rose Anne Martinez was fatally shot in the chest by 18-year-old Emanuel Camacho Gomez.
Balcones Heights police released two video clips Friday evening of the Monday afternoon shooting captured from a pair of red light cameras at the intersection of
Fredericksburg Road and Crossroads Boulevard.
Police Chief Bill Stannard said a confession given by Gomez matches word-for-word the moments displayed on the video clips.
Gomez, an alleged member of the prison-based gang known as the Texas Syndicate, was allegedly targeting the driver of the green Mercedes, 46-year-old Juan Lozano. He is also a suspected gang member, according to police.
When officers arrested Gomez at his home the following day, he was preparing to leave the country, according to police. Gomez is also suspected as the gunman in a May shooting, according to San Antonio police, who subsequently charged him in connection with that shooting following his arrest.
Stannard said police are still looking for the driver of the red car, who is also expected to be charged in connection with Monday's fatal shooting.
