SAN ANTONIO -- Officials with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service got a bird's-eye view Wednesday of development taking place around Camp Bullis.
The agency is concerned about wildlife in the area being forced onto the military installation and toured the area with city and county leaders via helicopter.
Fish & Wildlife officials said the interests of Camp Bullis as well as protecting wildlife in the area will require a large effort from all parties involved.
"On this installation, there is clear and present danger as they would state about losing this mission if we continue to see the infiltration of the wildlife coming into this installation, because of the development that's taking away their habitat," Bexar County Commissioner Lyle Larson said.
Larson went on to say the county can't afford to lose an installation like Camp Bullis, calling its economic impact "three times greater than Toyota's."
