SAN ANTONIO -- Animal Defense League is on the lookout for the person or persons who injured a dog and cat earlier this week.
A passerby found a dog named Parker with what appeared to be battery acid poured on his back.
The Good Samaritan took the injured animal to ADL and has since adopted the dog.
Another case of animal abuse occurred when a cat had its tail lit on fire, ADL officials said. The tail had to be amputated.
A woman claimed to have seen two teenage boys abuse the cat but no arrests have been made.
"It's hard to get the police involved if you don't know who's doing it," said Julie Wright, ADL hospital manager. "If they were to catch the people, they would bring up felony cruelty to animals charges."
Anyone with information about the cases is urged to call police.
The cat is in need of a home and anyone interested in adopting the feline should contact the ADL.
