SAN ANTONIO -- A suspected bank robber was arrested shortly after the holdup of a bank Friday on the city's northwest side.
Police said the man walked into the Amegy Bank branch at the intersection of Fredericksburg and Wurzbach roads and handed a teller a note demanding money.
The man got away with a large amount of money but was recognized by a police sergeant who happened to be at an Exxon gas station at Interstate 10 and West Avenue where the suspect was, police said.
"He was right near the scene and saw the other officers there and recognized somebody come out of the Exxon as suspicious so he detained him for questioning," said Sgt. Steven Lovelady of the San Antonio Police Department.
The man was arrested without incident.
