CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- A woman accused of killing her children is considering a plea bargain on the eve of her trial.
Valerie Lopez has received an offer from prosecutors, but specifics are unknown, according to sources involved in the case. Lopez has received the offer and is expected to make her decision before her trial begins Thursday morning.
Lopez, along with boyfriend Jerry Salazar, are accused of killing 18-month-old Sariyah Garcia around Christmas Eve 2006 and her brother, 6-month-old Sebastian Lopez, two months later, according to police reports.
Both children were buried under the Lopez's home on West Winnipeg Street and were found in early March, police said.
The trial has since been moved to Corpus Christi after Lopez's attorneys claimed media attention would not allow their client to have a fair trial.
Lopez has been charged with capital murder.
