SAN ANTONIO -- Jurors in the trial of a babysitter accused of injuring an infant viewed portions of an intense police interrogation Thursday.
During the interrogation, the defendant, Artizaid Santiago, repeatedly denied shaking 5-month-old Nathan Bonano to a police detective.
The repeated denials apparently tried the patience of the detective when he suddenly shouted, "Knock it off! I'm tired of it! You're (expletive). I'm tired of it. No. No. I don't want to hear the lies."
Santiago eventually admitted to shaking Nathan, but sobbed and said she didn't intentionally hurt him when she baby-sat him in April 2006.
When Nathan's father went to pick him up at Santiago's home, the infant was listless and unresponsive, prosecutors said.
According to trial testimony, Nathan was taken to a hospital, where he underwent a three-hour brain surgery.
Doctors testified that Nathan's injuries were consistent with that of shaken baby syndrome.
Nathan is developmentally delayed but his parents report that he is continuing to make progress.
