BOERNE, Texas -- An 18-year-old man accused of plotting a Columbine-like shooting was released from jail Sunday night.
The Boerne School District said it wants parents to keep their eyes and ears open for anything they hear or see that is suspicious.
KSAT's Simon Gutierrez reported that Allen Doelitsch was arrested in late August after making threats of violence against the Boerne Champion High School.
On Sunday, Doelitsch was released from the Kendall County Jail after a judge reduced his bond.
"It kind of concerns me -- that he could come back on campus," BCHS senior Amanda Winstead said. "It's kind of a scary thought."
Doelitsch admitted to authorities that he had thought about carrying out the attack, but he blamed it on depression and said he never planned to act on it.
BSD Superintendant Dr. John Kelly said he doesn't believe Doelitsch's reason.
"I was very disappointed. I had hoped the bond would be set so high (that) his release would not be possible," Kelly said. "We view him as possibly the most substantial threat the district has faced."
To further protect students, the judge agreed to bar Doelitsch from setting foot on campus and contacting students.
BSD officials said they have beefed up security at BCHS, and they said they have placed both the Boerne area high school and middle school on high alert.
BSD officials and Boerne police said students and their parents should not panic, and instead should remain cognizant of anything suspicious they see or hear.
"We just ask the public to be alert. Let us know if they see anything that concerns them," Boerne Police Chief Gary Miller said.
