KENDALL COUNTY, Texas -- The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office is trying to identify a decapitated body found near a popular swimming area in Kendall County.
According to Chief Deputy Matthew King, the body was discovered by a fisherman at dusk Saturday about 6 feet from the Guadalupe River water's edge in an area called Big Rope near Highway 474.
"He was just walking along the river fishing and he saw the feet sticking out from some shrubbery and brush," said King.
Deputies said the body also had both hands severed. The missing body parts have not been located.
Police believe the man was killed elsewhere, and said there are strong indications of organized crime.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy Sunday afternoon, but the victim had not been identified.
Police said the body belongs to a Hispanic man between 20 and 40 years old. Deputies said there were numerous tattoos on the torso, abdomen and right arm.
Deputies said the man was clothed, wearing some pants and a shirt; however, no personal items, jewelry, or identification were found on the body.
