NEAR NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas -- A fire burned an animal house behind the Texas Snake Farm near New Braunfels late Friday evening.

The fire started about 8:30 p.m. at the building on Interstate 35 North and Rusch Road, and consumed an animal house behind the main building.

Animal control officers are at the scene looking for two baboons that may have gotten loose during the fire, but investigators could not say whether or not they knew for sure if the baboons got loose or perished in the flames.

Firefighters said they did not know if any other animals died in the fire but were still investigating the cause of the blaze.
