An 18-wheeler overturned early Friday morning and spilled several large sacks of pinto beans on the I-10 exit ramp.

The accident happened around 2 a.m. as the big rig took the ramp from eastbound Interstate 10 to southbound Interstate 37.

The driver told San Antonio police he lost control of the rig after a tire possibly blew out.

The 18-wheeler then slid down a steep incline and overturned.

Police said the big rig was carrying up to 1,000 sacks of pinto beans each weighing close to 50 pounds.

Crews spent most of the morning picking up the bags and clearing the mess. They were forced to cut the guardrail to get the rig upright.

The ramp from eastbound I-10 to southbound I-37 remained closed as of 8:30 a.m. Friday. No injuries were reported.
