Charles Funari allegedly used weapon to beat victim

ALAMO HEIGHTS, Texas – An 18-year-old in Alamo Heights has been arrested, accused of beating a boy with a metal stick or pipe.

The incident occurred March 12 in the 300 block of Normandy Avenue, not far from Alamo Heights Boulevard.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, the victim was entertaining friends at his home when one person refused to leave. That's when, the affidavit said, a guest allegedly called the suspect, Charles Funari, on his cell phone.

Funari allegedly arrived at the home and then proceeded to beat the victim using a metal stick or pipe, causing both welts and cuts, the affidavit said.

The victim's father reported the incident that day to Alamo Heights police. The affidavit said police tracked down Funari and then showed a photo lineup to the victim who correctly made the identification.
