SAN ANTONIO -- A 15-year-old boy and his 31-year-old father were charged Monday in connection with an attempted break-in at a home where the teen was shot, police said.
Police found the teenager in an H-E-B parking lot near Loop 410 and Marbach Road about 1:30 a.m. after a homeowner in the
1400 block of Hunters Plane called police to tell them that he shot at two suspected robbers.
The 15-year-old boy, who was shot once in the abdomen and once in the right arm, was taken to University Hospital in serious condition, police said.
The homeowner, Juan Camacho, told police that he woke up at 1 a.m. to the sounds of breaking glass in the rear of his home.
When Camacho went to investigate, he told police that he saw two males. Camacho then opened fire, striking the teen, police said.
During an investigation, police determined that the boy and his father, Raymond Gomez, were the males who tried to enter the home.
The teen and Gomez were both charged with burglary.
