SAN ANTONIO -- A 2-year-old child was taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after being bitten in the face by the family dog, sheriff's investigators said.
The attack happened at a home on the
9500 block of Dunstable near Windcrest when the child was playing with the family dog. The child fell down and was bitten, sheriff's investigators said.
The boy's parents were outside and pulled their child away from the dog and called EMS.
"They restrained the dog, put the dog on a leash (and) right now, from what we know, the child has a nice cut on the eye and he was taken to the hospital for observation," said Bexar County Sheriff's Deputy Joseph Canales. "Animal Control's been called so they can come pick up the dog."
The parents said the dog's shots were current and that it had never acted aggressively toward their son, but that they no longer want the dog following the attack.
