UPDATED: 10:01 pm CDT May 6, 2009

Charges were filed Wednesday for a teenager and his mother in connection with a car crash that killed two other teenagers just before Christmas.

Deon Mayberry, 15, was driving a vehicle with five other occupants, all underage, when the car crashed on County Road 401 near Stockdale. Christopher Lerma and Ashlee Emery, both 13 years old, were killed in the crash. Mayberry was not licensed to drive, Texas DPS troopers said following the crash.

Mayberry was indicted on two counts of manslaughter and is being held at the juvenile detention facility in Jourdanton. His mother, Gail Mayberry, has been charged with causing injury to a child by negligence for allowing her son to drive the vehicle. She is being held on a $15,000 bond.
