SAN ANTONIO -- A rollover crash on the city's far northwest side early Tuesday killed an O'Connor High School student and injured two other students, police said. A student who attended an unnamed North Side Independent School District was also injured.

The name of the deceased student was James Peterson, 18, police said.

Police said a pickup truck was headed west on Loop 1604 early Tuesday when Peterson lost control and rolled down an embankment and into a traffic island.

Peterson was partially ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, police said.

One of the injured was airlifted and two others were transported by ambulance to University Hospital.

Police said one of the victims was apparently disoriented and walked away from the scene to call friends but was eventually located and taken to the hospital.

It wasn't immediately known if the victims were wearing seat belts. Police said one of the victims may have been riding in the bed of the pickup truck.

Update: The other teenagers injured have been identified as 18-year-old Justin Lugo, 17-year-old Caleb Martinez and 16-year-old Matthew Rodriguez. Lugo and Martinez were in the intensive care unit at University Hospital at last check. Rodriguez was also at University Hospital, but his condition was not available.
