SAN ANTONIO -- Jurors listened Tuesday to a police interview of a man prosecutors said stabbed and killed a woman during a burglary to support his and his girlfriend's drug habit.
Armando Leza, who could be sentenced to death if convicted, is accused of killing neighbor Caryl Allen at her southside apartment home on the
4500 block of Mission Grande in April 2007.
Prosecutors said the couple, including Leza's girlfriend Delores Trevino, stole Allen's VCR and television to support their $100 per day heroin habit. During a police interview on April 5, 2007, the day after Allen was killed, Leza told police he cut the victim's throat, according to a video interview played for the jury.
Trevino has pleaded guilty to murder for her role in Allen's death and is awaiting sentencing. She could be sentenced to life in prison.
