A 22-year-old soldier died during a training session Tuesday at Fort Sam Houston.

According to a news release, Pfc. Tsomwe O. Tsolumba stopped to walk and then began to stagger while he was completing the Army physical fitness test 2-mile run.

A platoon sergeant pulled Tsolumba off the road and put ice water and iced sheets on his body to cool him down, the release said.

CPR was administered at the scene and Tsolumba was transported to Brooke Army Medical Center, where he died.

An autopsy is being conducted.

Tsolumba was assigned to the Alpha Company, 264th Medical Battalion.
