BEXAR COUNTY -- A woman who said she entrusted the care of her horses to a neighbor is now seeking their arrest after all three horses died from an apparent case of neglect.
Kerstin Jones said she asked for and received agreement that her neighbor would tend to her horses while she was away from her east Bexar County property, but after several failed attempts to reach the neighbor forced her to return home and find her horses dead.
"I'm disgusted because he's a horse person himself, and I'm feeling a lot of anger," she said. "The investigators told me they had been dead for a few days. He hasn't watered at all, he failed to water the horses.
"They died a horrible death."
A spokesman for the Bexar County Sheriff's Department said the agency is investigating the matter and would likely issue a warrant in the case. They said whomever is responsible for the neglect would face animal cruelty charges.
