Comal County Bans Fireworks

Ban Enacted For Third Consecutive Independence Day

POSTED: Friday, July 3, 2009

Worsening drought conditions have prompted Comal County officials to ban all fireworks over the Independence Day holiday.

Sales have been shut down and usage will not be allowed, except for a previously scheduled fireworks show in New Braunfels' Landa Park, according to an article in the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung.

Disaster declarations are also in place for Bexar and Guadalupe counties, but fireworks sales are still being allowed, except for missiles with fins or rockets and other aerial fireworks. All fireworks sales must end before midnight on July 4, and all other fireworks must be lit in designated safe zones only.

A list of local fireworks shows and safe zones can be seen on this site.
