2 Pearsall High School students arrested for terroristic threats

Two Pearsall High School students have been arrested for making terroristic threats against the school district.

According to Pearsall Police Chief Henry Martinez, the two students were overheard by other students saying they were going to "shoot up the school." The principal was then alerted and police were called. The students were arrested and taken in for psychiatric evaluation. No weapons were found.

The students will be disciplined according to district policies, a news release said.

Since the December shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn., the district has been and will be taking additional security measures at campuses and offices, including securing entrances, changing parking procedures, limiting visitor access and enforcing visitor procedures at campuses, the news release said.

"After spring break, parents may be inconvenienced by new protocol at the high school," the news release said. "These measures are being put in place to increase our students' security."
