2 arrested, 3 at large after attempted robbery

SAPD investigating officer shots fired

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police are searching for three attempted robbery suspects who ran from officers early Saturday morning. 

According to police, an officer was responding to reports of a burglar in progress at an apartment complex in the 2600 block of Babcock Road. 

When he arrived a group of five people were loading a black truck with stolen property, said police. 

The officer asked them to stop and three people ran from the scene, police said. 

According to police, the officer was holding a suspect in the vehicle at gunpoint when the suspect grabbed his gun and and started to drive away. The officer's hand was caught in the vehicle, dragging him and causing his gun to go off, said police. 

The driver eventually stopped and started running. Back up officers arrived and caught two suspects nearby, said police. 

Police are still searching for three suspects.
