Two men are facing charges of criminal trespass after they were caught on the roof of the Bexar County Courthouse on Sunday night.
Sgt. Raul Garza with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office said authorities were alerted about 8:40 p.m. through a surveillance company watching the premises. He said the men climbed the fire escape on the east side of the building and got to the rooftop.
Garza doesn't believe the men ever entered the building, which is consistent with reports from the surveillance company.
San Antonio police arrived on the scene and detained the two men until deputies arrived. More charges are possible as the investigation unfolds, especially if the recently renovated rooftop was damaged.
Garza said the men told deputies they were "drinking" and made a "stupid decision."
The incident is reminiscent of a November 2011 break-in by men wearing sombreros and running from office to office. A judge's gavel was stolen.
The men, who are believed to be from the Houston area, were being questioned by investigators.
