Two convicted sex offenders were taken into custody this week by U.S. Border Patrol agents in Eagle Pass.
The first suspect was apprehended Tuesday and identified as Jose Luis Melendez-Renderos, 23, an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador.
During processing, Border Patrol agents found out Melendez-Renderos was convicted in Denver, Colo. for sexual assault of a child and was deported.
The second suspect was arrested Wednesday by Border Patrol agents. He was identified as Uriel Valtierra-Mata, 38, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico.
According to a press release, agents discovered Valtierra-Mata had been convicted in Richmond, Va. for indecency with a child sexual contact and was deported.
Both men face charges of illegal re-entry and their prior orders of removal will be reinstated.
