SAN ANTONIO -

Two people are in the hospital after the motorcycle they were riding wrecked on San Antonio's Southside.

It happened Sunday afternoon at Roosevelt and VFW Boulevard.

Police said the two people on the motorcycle were headed south on Roosevelt when a car, headed in the opposite direction, attempted to make a left turn at the intersection on VFW Boulevard. The motorcycle slammed into the vehicle, police said.

The accident happened just before 3 p.m. on Sunday in front of the Mission Branch Library.

Police said the two people on the motorcycle, a man and a woman, were thrown from the cycle and that neither of them were wearing helmets.

They were both transported to a nearby hospital.

Police said the driver of the motorcycle was talking. His female passenger sustained head trauma and that she appeared to be in bad shape, police said.

Authorities said there were several people in the car, but that they all appeared to be okay.
