SAN ANTONIO -

Two people were hospitalized with serious injuries after a motorcycle collided with a pickup truck and an 18-wheeler in New Braunfels.

Firefighters and police responded to the crash at 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the southbound lanes of Interstate 35.

A preliminary investigation showed that the motorcyclist struck the right side of a truck tractor and then also struck the side of a passing Ford pickup truck, according to a NBPD press release.

The motorcyclist and his passenger were thrown from the bike and landed on the interstate. Air Life was called to the scene and transported both patients to the hospital.

They are described as a 61-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman, both from San Antonio. The driver of the big rig and the Ford pickup were not injured.

All lanes of I-35 were shut down for approximately four hours while officers investigated the crash. No charges were expected to be filed and accident is still under investigation.
