Two men were hospitalized after police said they were struck by an SUV while crossing the street on the city's Northwest Side.

It happened around 7 p.m. Monday on Fredericksburg Road near Vance Jackson.

Police said two men were trying to cross in an area not designated for crossing when they were hit by the SUV.

One of the men was rushed to University Hospital in critical condition. The other was listed in stable condition, police said.

Police say the driver was on wet roads and also didn't have enough time to see the men.

She stopped to render aid and is not expected to face charges.
