2 minors injured in East Side drive-by shooting

3 minors were in house during shooting

SAN ANTONIO – Two children were injured in a drive-by shooting on the city’s East Side. It happened in the 2700 block of East Houston Street at North Rio Grande Street on the city’s East Side about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said an 8-year-old and a 15-year-old were shot in the drive-by. Someone drove down the street and opened fire on the house, where three minors were inside.

The two injured minors were each hit once and have non-life-threatening injuries. Chief McManus said he believes the drive-by was gang-related, but thinks the shooters intended to aim at a different house.

Police are still investigating at the scene. Witnesses said they saw a green car leaving the scene.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
