Two shootings were reported almost simultaneously of each other Friday night on the city’s east side.
The first incident happened around 8 p.m. Witnesses said a car stopped in the intersection of Morningview Drive and Wheatley Road and fired multiple gunshots into a convenience store. Witnesses said the shots sounded like they came from a semi-automatic weapon.
One person was shot in the leg and was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the car involved in the incident was a black Ford Taurus. No arrests have been made.
Police responded to a second shooting soon after. Officers said a woman was shot in the buttocks in the 4400 block of Hein Road.
Officers in the area said they spotted a car that failed to stop at a stop sign. Investigators said when officers pulled the car over, four suspects got out and fled on foot.
A canine unit was brought in to help with the search and the suspects were eventually apprehended, authorities said.
Although the shootings occurred close to one another, police said Friday they were treating the shootings as separate incidents.
