SAN ANTONIO -- On the evening of June 21, 2007, 21-year old Christopher Rosales sent a text message to his girlfriend in California saying he was going to kill his boss, according to Thursday testimony in his murder trial.
Rosales had been working for 66-year old Juan Flores at Flores’ west San Antonio video store, Videos Mexicanos. Flores was found beaten to death at the store on June 22. The night before, Rosales called 18-year old Ashley Melgoza-Moore shortly after he sent the text message, Melgoza-Moore testified.
“He was crying hysterically and he had said that he had murdered his boss," she said.
The next morning, Rosales showed up at the home of a friend and again confessed to the murder, said Elvira Zavala while on the witness stand. She said Rosales told her he killed Flores, and testified that he said he'd beaten him up. Zavala said Rosales seemed calm and that “he wasn’t acting scared or worried or sad or anything like that.”
She said the two later went shopping with $900 Rosales said he had stolen from the video store. Rosales also confessed to police, but later changed his story and said his friend, Matthew Gavlin, killed Flores.
Gavlin has also been charged with murder in Flores' death and is in jail awaiting trial.
