SAN ANTONIO -- CPS Energy is helping some local businesses go lean and clean when it comes to the amount of energy they use.
The utility talked about the Lean, Clean Program Monday at Southern Folger Detention Equipment.
Southern Folger was the first manufacturer in San Antonio to complete the program. Under the program, CPS Energy works with companies to come up with ways for them to use less energy during peak times. In exchange, companies get rebates from the utility.
"They will actually look at their processes internally to see what it is they can do when we call upon them during peak periods," said CPS Energy CEO Milton Lee. "They will actually reduce demand on our system and not mess up anything they are doing process wise."
The Lean, Clean Program is part of CPS Energy's overall goal to reduce electrical demand among manufacturers by nine megawatts by the year 2020.
