SAN ANTONIO -- The body of a homeless man was found Sunday morning in a downtown drainage alley.
Another homeless man alerted police about the body, which was located under a bridge at West Commerce and Calder.
According to police reports, the victim had more than 13 small puncture wounds to his throat, and dried blood on his face and neck. He was wearing a long-sleeve camouflage top, a blue muscle shirt underneath, blue and white jogging pants and Texas A&M shoes. The victim also had a white rosary around his neck.
"Our officers don't know him, so whether he's new or we just don't see him during our hours is certainly possible," said Sgt. April Titus of the San Antonio Police Department.
Titus said that one homeless man officers spoke with told them he heard screams around 1 a.m. Sunday but did not see anything. He also said that the victim lived under a bridge with two other homeless men and that one of them was seen around 7 a.m. Sunday morning with blood on his shirt.
The name of the victim has not been released.
