Police Arrest Suspected Taggers On North Side

POSTED: Saturday, November 7, 2009
UPDATED: 6:30 pm CST November 7, 2009

Two men are in custody, another is in the hospital and a fourth on the run after San Antonio police said they caught them tagging a near northwest side roof top early Saturday morning.

The incident happened at Sterlings Public Uniform in the 2100 block of West Avenue a little after 3 a.m.

Police said they received a call from a neighbor who said four men were on the roof.

An officer who arrived on the scene heard the men talking and spraying the building with paint. The officer immediately called for backup.

"They were able to surround the building. Once the suspects saw that they were surrounded, they attempted to flee the police by jumping off the building and running," said officer Matthew Porter.

Two of the men, both 17, were arrested and face graffiti charges.

A third person broke his ankle and will be charged when he's released from the hospital.

The fourth person is still being sought by police.
