SAN ANTONIO -- Fox Tech High School and Lanier High School played the final Chili Bowl football game Saturay night at Alamo Stadium.
"It's been a tradition all these years," said one fan.
As the San Antonio Independent School District restructures, Fox Tech is set to become a special purpose magnet school and football won't be in its future.
"I personally think it's unfair," said Fox Tech Junior Crystal Garcia.
Garcia said the decision is a disappointing one for her and her friends.
"It think it's sad because a lot of parents and kids like to come to this every year," said Amber Ramirez, another Fox Tech Junior.
The tradition dates back to when brothers Ray and Victor Aguilar where just kids.
"We used to live down the road here and you could hear the game from the house," said Victor Aguilar, a 1961 Fox Tech graduate.
Their dad graduated from Lanier High School. The rivalry has been in their family for decades.
"I can't believe it after all these years," said Ray Aguilar, who graduated from Fox Tech in 1963.
Traditionally on the night of Chili Bowl there's a split between fans, but on the final night there was a universal feeling among everyone at Alamo Stadium. It was a sense of loss at the end of the city's longest running football rivalry.
"Its just been a lot of fun. Its sad its going to be over," said Irene Castillo who graduated from Lanier in 1969.
Lanier won the game by the score of 30-14.
