A man was killed late Monday night in a fiery crash in Medina County.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers said that the driver of an 18-wheeler was slowing down to pull into a rest stop at Interstate 35 and Mile Post 129 near Devine at 11:30 p.m. when a Mitsubishi crashed into the truck from behind.

The car burst into flames.

The driver of the car, George Hendrickson of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was not hurt.

The crash tied up traffic for about four hours while crews cleaned up the scene.
