Woman Hit, Killed By 18-Wheeler

Victim Was Walking On I-10

A 32-year-old woman who was walking in the middle of Interstate 10 was hit and killed by an 18-wheeler Tuesday morning.

According to Sgt. Marcial Luevano of the San Antonio Police Department, a witness saw the woman get out of a pickup truck at the Shell gasoline station near Interstate 10 and Camp Bullis Road at 4:30 a.m. and walk across the access road and onto the highway. Moments later, the big rig hit her, killing her instantly.

According to a witness, the woman did not appear to be emotional or distraught, Luevano said.

The accident shut down the eastbound lanes of I-10 for about three hours.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has not yet released the woman's identity.
